Searching for the IBus Code to start the MID

Hello,

I have a little problem. A few years ago I build in a bmw navigation computer (mk 4) into my car. The MID (which was in before) went into my room. After the retrofit my dealer coded the navigation computer to the car.

So everything's fine for about 3 years.

Now, a few days ago, a friend of mine like to buy the MID. I tried it (the MID connection cable is still in the car), but it did'nt work. So i went to the bmw dealer to connect it to one of their e39's.
It worked, but had some pixle errors.

Perhaps it does'nt start in my car, because the car is programmed to start the nav computer. And don't talk to the MID anymore.
I have a laptop and a interface. Does anyone know the command to turn the MID on?
I like to repair it. But of course it should work before.

you are right - the car will now ignore the MID as the nav is fitted. You must ask the dealer to disactivate the nav, and code the car for a MID.

OR

Make your MID a FMID - the REAR MID, as fitted to the rear seat centre armrest on the 7 series.

To make the MID think it is a rear MID, just connect pins 5 and 11 together on the MID plug. It will then work with your whole nav system as a remote control :-)

PS: then you could keep your MID and install it in the rear seat area of your car.
All you need to connect the MID is permanent power, ignition power, illumination, ibus and ground

I still like to sell it. But that's a nice trick. Let's hope it works. Thank you.
