new mk4 install problems

hi , hope someone can help

i bought a mk4 dvd and a 16:9 unit

when i plug both in with a dvd of the v29 software i just get the following message on the lcd:

"software laden erforderlich bitte legen sie eine geeignette software cd ein"

anyoen have any ideas ?

jackal2513 12-08-2007 06:07 PM

looks like it needs a software load

i burnt the v29.mdf onto a DVD-rom
should I be using a CD-rom instead ?

also i read somewhere that with brand new mk4 units (mine seems brand new) the BMW dealer has to configure the clock/time first before it will accept a software load ?

anyone have any ideas ? thanks.

Yes, burn that to a CD, not a DVD.

ok thank you for your help

ok i tried burning a cd as well but still i get the message that tells me i need a software update (now in english)

where would i get an official copy of v.27 on disc ? I need to rule out the disc because i'm getting worried now thay my mk4 is in some way faulty.

Can i get v.27 from my BMW dealer ?

There is an official version of the v29-1 on my site www.simplymini.info. More than likely your system is having problems reading the disk that you created. Make sure that you are buring in Mode 1.

ok, thanks for that
good news, it uploaded fine but now i have a different problem

no GPS !

went into the service menu and there are no satellites operational
i did disconnet teh trimble properly from the old mk2 system as well so I was expecting this to work immediately

is there something i need to do to get the gps to work ? Or maybe I have connected the unit up incorrectly ? I have both pulgs going into the back and the blue plug is the one that was original going into the tv tuner (which i have no removed)

hope someone can help

regards

Rich

There is a terminal for the GPS antenna. Did you plug that in?
