Differents between BM54 and BM53?
 

I'm confused between the differents the 2 radio module. My friend just purchase a BM53 as he was told by the ebay German BMW retailer that what he need is BM53 for Malaysia. However most of the BMW that comes with OEM Satnav are shipped in from UK which if I'm not wrong comes with BM54. Whats the differents anyway?

I think (but not 100% sure) that the BM54 is the UK/Euro module and the BM53 is the US/Aisa module, the US/Asia module has less radio frequencies than the UK/Euro module and I think that the UK/Euro module also has half step frequencies (eg 88.50, 88.35 etc...).

I could be wrong though.

Tuner frequency range is different, should use BM54.

BM53 also doesn't support traffic info (not available in the USA,when BM53 was developed), and the cd screen is different using the BM53 versus the BM54.

thats a shame for us in north america. Im in canada and the TMC feature would have been great if it worked on the bm53

ccfji- is right!!! 100%, he should be using the BM53 radio.

BM53 is single-tuner
BM54 is dual-tuner
