Nav issues... screen color problem, doesn't know where I am, no voice
I did a nav retrofit in my 99 e38, and I ended up cutting the harness to get it out of a wrecked car. When I put it back together it worked but I have a few issues with the Nav. I used a 16:9 widescreen and a Range Rover MK3. First issue is the screen color-
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...Ebay/014-1.jpg it is an off color grey with the text in a light blue. The colors are supposed to be blue background with orange letters (this is the same RR MK3 installed in my 1995 e38) http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...retro002-1.jpg Also when the direction voice comes up I used to get a charming British fellow giving me directions in the 1995 e38 in, now in the 1999 e38 I just get static white noise every time I am given verbal directions. The next problem is when in nav mode trying to get directions the screen cursor shows that I am about 60-80 miles from my actual position. It shows me about 60 miles North West of my present location, and the cursor does move when I am driving but it goes a different direction than I am really heading. So all this leads me to believe I crossed a wire or two while repairing the cut nav harness. Can anyone help me out on what wires I may have crossed, or maybe i have a totally different problem? I don't even really know where to begin. |
The colour problem indicates you have transposed some/all of the RGB video wires to the monitor, this will give the effect you show as the Red signal from the nav computer may be controlling the blue video driver in the monitor etc, so any reds will show as blue .... hence the odd mix of colour.
As for the white noise, I don't know about that one. Is it 'engine static' or a true white noise (rushing sound)? The fact that you are off course could be down to GPS antenna or receiver fault, or wheel/gyro sensors ... what does your GPS status say in the Service screen? Photo's of each service screen may be a help... |
