Hahaha, KiwiJochen, you crack me up. Thanks for the info though, mate. Hopefully some clever chap will figure out how to retrofit properly with the audiovox set up to work with clear channel. Until then....

so, the Traffic Info appeared on my nav screen (albeit greyed out and not selectable) because i popped in a 2009 map DVD? interesting... I know that the ZIP code search in addition to the City name search option started to work because of the newer disk...

I'll need to pop in the old, 2005 disk, to see if the Traffic will disappear...

Which would prove that the new disk has the Traffic (same as TMC?) info aspart of the database... Which would beg a question, can the traffic info be subscribed to? maybe via Sirius? I do not have Sirius but having traffic option might be an incentive big enough to consider retrofitting one...

This is for the new(er) ride, the 2006 E53 4.8iS

TMC module instructions

Here is the factory instruction for the TMC module installation into an E39 car. the instructions specifically states it is for MK3 Navs, while the OP stated that he upgraded to MK4 unit that is capable of the receiving the TMC info.

The part comes up on the RealOEM as a TMC receiver, only shows up for euro versions and shows that it is for cars with S609A-NO... which is strange, the instructions mention the connection to the Nav computer...

anyways, i wonder, if this set up is applicable in the US or we still have some hurdles to consider...
