Dead Nav after upgrade

I just bought a 2004 330CI convertable 2 days ago and tried to upgrade the Nav to V29.1.
I burned the CD and inserted it into the Nav system. It showed "upgrading softwre" for a few seconds and everything went blank. It does not work anymore:doh:

Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help? What do I do now?

Thank you

You have either burned a bad CD or have written in the wrong mode.

Is the nav a MkIII (CD) or MkIV (DVD)?

It is MkIV (DVD).
Do you think it can be fixed?

Thank you

Just burn another CD (another quality brand) put it in MK IV turn key to first position and wait, it might take a while but it will boot to update. Happend to me many times with my 330 Cab

Your suggestion worked!!!!
I burned another CD, poped it in and the Nav started the upgrade. Perfect!
You are the best. THANK YOU.

Mk4's recover from a bad OS upgrade much better than the Mk3's. Glad you got it working.

I have this problem with mk3, tried different cd, older firmware, nothing works... even power light on the nav wont go on.. any ideas on what to try?

These are the steps I went through:
- Tried to upgrade my Nav and the screen went blank
- The power light was off as well
- Left it over night as I was waiting for a reply from the forum
- Burned the firmware on a different brand of CD
- Popped it in the Nav
- Then turned on the ignition

When I turned on the ignition, the Nav was already in the process of upgrading.

May be try that sequence. Let it sit for a while, then pop in the CD before you turn on the car. May be worth a shot.

I have an MK4 though and according to UCrewX5, MK4's recover from a bad OS upgrade much better than the MK3's. Hope you can get yours working.

If it is MK IV just do it the ordinary way,
Open drivers dor turn ignition to 1 (acc)
Open trunk insert cd
Do not turn off ignition, close drivers dor or trunk untill you are asked by nav to eject cd
Be patient, it might take MK IV few minutes before you se update beeng loaded on the screen

If the power light is off and only turns on as you press or hold ejrct button, check ther fuses too
