MK3 unit keeps ejecting Nav Disc... Thanks in advance of help.

MY01 X5 78k miles.. Nav unit has been working fine for yrs but lately began ejecting the Nav disc. Tried following methods w/o success:
  1. Determine the nav disc is working because it works on the Mk3 on an E38.
  2. Burned a copy of the disc and ran the burned copy and used on the X5 Mk 3 and still didn't work.
  3. Sprayed compressed air, no joy either.
  4. Opened up the unit and far as I can see when nav disc is inserted, the unit pulls down the disc and seems to be attempting to read but the disc doesn't spin. Could this be a bad motor? Are there instructions (I looked but couldn't find any) to further disassemble the unit (I only took off the top cover to peek inside) and maybe adjust some spring loading type mechanisms?
Final solution is to spring for a Mk4 but at $700-$800 a piece that's too much. Are there new Mk3s for sale other than the used ones on Ebay?

Separately, I tried swapping the Mk3 on an E38 to the X5. Used the same coat hanger method to dislodge but on the E38 the unit is loosened but didn't exactly slide out. Did I not pull hard enough? Suggestions? Thanks again for any help.
