4:3 to 16:9 Nav Screen Upgrade

Guys, when you are upgrading the 4:3 screen to the 16:9 nav screen purchase these parts from your BMW dealer.

65900140348

They are mounting brackets specifically for retrofitting nav into an non nav X5. They also work great for the uprgrade because they screw into the location where the old 4:3 screen was.

This is on the nav retrofit on the front page of this site. Notice the brackets that are on the side of the opening. These will fit in the stock location of where the 4:3 screen fits in.

You will want these part numbers to complete:
65900140347 left bracket
65900140348 right bracket

07119904046 4 x 4mm countersunk screws

I think the total price was less than $12.00. Easy to install and very secure.

I'm looking to do the upgrade, the larger screen looks great. I found a 16:9 "screen only" for sale my question is do I need the complete housing with the cd player, or will the 16:9 screen fit within the existing unit keeping the screen fixed in place?

thanks

You need the complete housing with the Cassette Player (CD is not an option).

Thanks, I'll keep searching.

Does anyone have before and after pics of the finished product? I'm curious to see the difference between the 4:3 and 16:9.

Thanks
