MK3 16:9 Split screen for Radio?

I have a late production 2001 X5 with 16:9 screen and MK3 navigation. Just updated to the latest software version 3-1/63.
When I go into radio mode, it will take up the full screen even I selected "split screen" in the setting. Will downgrading and re-upgrading the software like MK4 solve this problem?
thanks!

that thing works provided that OP has the new model radio, which i think he does not have.

I saw that post already. but he has MKIV and I have MKIII, does that make any difference? Also as villemus said, the radio was upgraded in that post, and mine is stock premium sound DSP from 2001...

Radio Split-Screen works with both MkIII and MkIV but the coding is dependent on the radio, not the Nav Computer.
You can code your MkIII (using e.g. NavCoder) to the NG radio (BM54) setting, which will give you radio split-screen mode. Only problem with this is, that the INFO and SELECT buttons won't work any more, provided your radio is a OG model (BM24).
PS NG radios are built in starting from MY2002 (i.e. from 09/2001 onwards).

You car works exactly the way it is designed. It is not a 'problem' because the way the split screen works is the way BMW wanted it to work.

You can change it, but you will loose functionaliy of INFO and SELECT buttons
in your car.

Thanks, that is the answer I was looking for. I already got iBus interface, will try it with Navcoder. What does INFO and SELECT buttons do anyway? I only use the radio portion of the screen for DICE ipod...

All the functions described in the user manual

Like turn RDS on and off
Switch TP on and off
Set playback mode for CD 8tandom etc)
Adjust tone controls I think

etc

exact functions depend on fitted equipment and country settings, refer to your user manual
