Idrive Nav system E61. Update possible?

I've been reading this navigation forum for a while and I do not understand some things. (Btw: I have a E61 from 2004 with brown business navigation screen, but the bmw dealer updated it today with the lastest, now I have a Grey screen)

-First of Ive read somewhere that the Idrive system is WinCE based, so totally different from the X5 navigation? I DO NOT see my firmware version on the right top screen. I do not have a SET/Settings screen like most of you guys have.

-Can I also update my firmware with the V30 of V31?

-I can go into service menu. But where can I find my versions?

-The E60/61 LCI's also got MAP 2D view. Can I also enable this with 2008 maps? Or is that a function only possible with latest firmware?

-Where Can I find all the info for the Idrive system? Do I also have MKIV?

iDrive Nav systems can only be updated by the dealer. Apparently to heavily integrated with the rest of the electronics to allow mere mortals to tamper with it.
So I guess the party ends here.

Damn. But they say they upgraded my Idrive system to the latest version (2008). Its Grey now, used to be brown.
Still I dont know what the latest Idrive version should be.

I hope I will have 2D maps with the 2008 dvd.
