operating system For MK III, IV
 

good day ppl,
i have several questions witih no answers. i need some help.
1- What Kind of operating system does the MK III & IV has?
2- What is the hardware specification For the above ?
3- What Kind of memory or chip does it use or support?
4- Who created the Software ? Which Company ? Which Program they use? Which Code ? Any Program can edit the O.S. Unless Binary, Hex ETC.
5- Can we change the O.S. Completely from what it is now ?
6- Who Create the NavTweak? Why he didnt edit the full operating system to change it completely, as who ever did the navtweak, can tweak the whole operating system ?
7- How did he create the navtweak? which program did he use ? how did he uncode the current code?

Based on the above information, then i can decide if it is possible to change the whole O.S. To some thing different.

OS9000

Ask VDO. They designed and made it.

Open it and read the memory chip type. But why bother?

Philips designed the nav applications initially. Now owned by VDO.
Software is proprietary.
Os9000 is made by microware I think

No. Processor is proprietary "CARIN* processor. Very special.

NavTweak author made it. Look at NavTweak to determine.
Tweaking a proprietary operating system is very very very very very hard.

As NavTweak requires a runtime environment, then it must be written by or for that environment.
He would have 'uncoded' the code by looking for vamiliar hex headers that identify the mpeg4 voice files and the text part in the navboot file (easy to see in a hex editor)

Not a chance unless you have documentation of how the CARIN processor works and can also decompile the OS9000 code,
