Burning software with "wildcard" version
Hi,
I'd like to load software with a custom splash screen . I've got MK4 . However , I'm having some problems with changing the version and I'm out of ideas . Here's what I do : 1. Open HexEditor ( xvi32 ) 2. Open files (sw_rel , lng_rel) 3. Edit-->Overwrite strings-->Hex string--->Type "30" (editing v31) 4. Save As far as I know , I ought to get a wildcard and therefore should be able to replace any existing version .. but does not work . When I put the CD into my unit it spins and just nothing happens then ,I can eject the soft out of my device . I guess it might be fault of the way I used to burn it . Here's what I do : 1. Open the image in MagicISO 2. Replace Navboot and the ver files 3. Save a new , changed image 3. Burn it in ImgBurn Maybe I should copy the files directly onto my hd and make an image then .I'm just run out of ideas . Anyway ,could You send me your working wildcard files or gimme some advice how to do it properly ? Cheers |
Hmm, that should do it.. wait, I think i see the problem.
1. Open HexEditor ( xvi32 ) Correct 2. Open files (sw_rel , lng_rel) Correct 3. Edit-->Overwrite strings-->Hex string--->Type "30" (editing v31) wrong In the first line of each of the hex files you find: 31 30 31 30 Just edit the last 30 to 31 and your nav unit will think it's a new Software Version. 4. Save Correct HTH |
gonna try and let You know ,
appreciate your help ;) |
