Guys, I really hope someone can help advise me about this.....
I sat last night and reall through all 60 pages, making sure I was doing things correctly.... and i've obviously screwed up somewhere.... just hope its fixable. I have a 2005 X5 with Nav 4-1/42. I downloaded v32 from the 1st page of this thread and then updated the splash screen as per the instructions in another thread. I went to the car and done as per the instructions, when I put my v32 disc into the drive the screen changed to say that a software disc had been inserted and that it was loading software.... then nothing happened, it just stayed like that! Now when I start the car the radio works and the screen is blank.... help!!!! Could this be due to the speed that I have copied my disc at, or have I really screwed it up? |
Small update..... now when I switch on the car I get the screen displayed, ive still got telephone, tv etc... but navigation is missing and also the display looks really different, more basic???
The dvd unit in the boot doesnt have the red led lighting up anymore but it does accept discs in, altho they dont make any difference? Help..... please! |
Ignore my posts.... sorted it.... phew!!!
Copied the image at a faster speed x10 instead of x1 and it worked a treat.... now enjoying the v32 software! |
Get a OEM disk, load it and you should be good. Cost is $16
|
Is V32 the latest and last version?
|
Yes, works for all I-Bus cars and all E65/66 cars. Available from getbmwparts.com or the dealer for $8-10.
|
Hi all, mine is 2002 with Nav CD (not dvd). How can I know what version I have and whether to update to V32 or not. Very new to this. Help please!
|
Go to the setting screen and read the numbers in the upper right corner. What does it say?

You have a MKIII with Ver. 20.1. You can update to 3-1/63 which is Ver.22 thru 32 (no more changes). You could download the OS (must be in mode2 form1) or buy a Ver.32 disk from the dealer or get a friendly dealer to upgrade it for you. Or you can send a lot and get a MKIV DVD unit. Do a search for DIY info on this forum.

I would be happy to pay pal someone a fee to direct me on what and how to load this sucker in to my nav!! Thanks so much for any and all help!!

Hi,
I am a new member on this forum. First of all id like to say what a good forum this is! I have already sorted out a few issues with my car just by reading several posts. I bought a 2003 3.0d X5 last week and upgraded the onboard computer to firmware v32. I have the MK4 Navigation DVD unit. The problem is that when i try to change the language to english (GB) it ignores my request and goes back to "Aus" language. Can someone please help me out, perhaps i need to upgrade again using a different disk? Thanks for your help in advance! Tommy |
I NEED HELP my nav not working
Hi, I got my bm 745 li 2002 almost month ago I try ubdate my system (navi01)
but it dose not work i read lots and i am sure i did every thing right. i need help to bring back my nav. My idrive showing SOFTWARE LOADING IS IN PROGRESS...... and nothing no GPS for days. the light on nav system showing power on but cd_in is off i used v32 cd and mode 2 form1 THANKS |
A little help please....
I have been reading on this forum for a few weeks, and could use a little hand holding... I have recently bought an 05 X5 4.4 for my wife. The navigation unit doesn't seem to be up to par. I am assuming the previous owner never updated the system to current available standards. I have seen in several places that version 32 is available and it should cost around $16. I went to our local dealership today, and asked for the update CD for our X, and was the appropriate DVD is $199. I was obviously shocked and instantly knew I was not completely clear on what I needed. The part number the guy told me was 65 90 2 241 695 My question now is... what exactly do I need to do an update on our system? Our current system shows SW 4-1/50 on the screen. |
Read post #7 from Brian. http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...avi02-e65.html
What part of town are you in? I have the disk and my Indy at Auto Europe also has it. We are in Midtown. Brian has it too but he is in Peachtree Corners. |

I read that post, and that seems to be what happened for me. I am now curious as to what they were quoting me? I am in Social Circle (near Covington/Conyers) , but work in East Atlanta. I would love to meet up with you and get a little assistance on the upgrade. Is my SW 4-1/50 likely the software that came with the car in 05? Edit: I just purchased online from pelican parts. I ordered part number 01.59-0 141 891. Total price was $6.75 with $3.45 shipping via usps. |
They are quoting you the 2012 DVD map discs. The OS CD is different and cheap. I expect your nav has never been updated. Takes about 10 min.
|
Thanks again Roy, I will give you a call soon.
I've entered your number in my phone in case you wanted to delete it from your post. Jim |
OK,.... v32 has loaded... what kind of differences should I notice ?
Is it going to take the high priced OEM DVD to get the streets that have been created since 04/05 ? |
I am still running my 2007-2 CD. All depends on where you live and travel I guess. Don't buy a new DVD map without checking with Brian. He said some of the new one aren't good as they changed suppliers. I can make you a copy of my CD if you want.
|
Hi, All, can someone please hold my hand for a min as well.
Please correct my understanding. I am deff lost somewhere. 1. So V32 is just the OS, as in Operating System, has nothing to do with the new updated 2012 maps, correct? 2. If I buy a the maps, 2012 navigation high from Ebay, will it effect the v32 OS version that I downloaded w camera alerts, M logo, and night mode? 3. I've been reading forever, and can't figure out what I need to use to burn the V32 OS that I downloaded. I downloaded navspeak, navtweak, and poison. This is probably what is holding me back from making my nav look as cool as you guys have. Please help a fellow Xer out. Thanks in advance. |
Another question. I downloaded all the stuff from Home. Will the V32 OS work on my USA car? Thanks again.
|
Nobody loves me. Sniff sniff.
|
V.32 works for all I-bus cars plus all e65/66 cars. It is the last OS disk for e38/39/53/65/66 and other non I-drive cars. I don't know about the 2012 maps they may be ok by now. Is the ebay guy selling copies or originals? Your gamble I guess unless someone else has a comment.
|
Quote:
The maps I am not sure if they are copies or original. I will see when I get them. I too am scared about putting non OE into the car. |
Copies of DVD maps do not always read properly as do the originals. Maybe if the new type are single layer (??) maybe they will read. The older ones were double layer I think and didn't read well. Others here are expert on this subject.
I use a factory OS disk as it is cheap ($8). They are universal all over. Only the hacked copies are different. |
I want to use the hacked one for that little bit of extra cool.
If this messes up my stuff, will I be able to insert the original cd and fix the messup? Thanks. |
Hello everyone, just wondering if someone could confirm with a couple of yes/no's whether I'm right with what I think I've worked out so far...
Will be taking an 08 X5 (e70) soon, and just want to make sure I'm on the latest versions of things, particularly as there is no navigation disc in the car :angryfire I'm not yet sure what all the firmwares etc are in the car, but as I understand it: - I can upgrade to v32 of the firmware - but I can still run the most recent Professional Map Disc? Or will the newset Pro Map Disc try and update the firmware to something it shouldn't be? Thanks hopefully in advance! sc |
E70 uses complete different navigation system. V32 software is for older MK1/2/3/4 computers. E70 is with CCC comp. The software update for your system must be done at the dealer. But if you have no problems with the navigation, just use your Pro DVD maps and drive carefully because you don't need update ;).
|
I beg to differ:
part # 01 59 0 141 891, which is the CD with the V.32 shows to fit E70 models as well as a line of many others - just plug the part number into RealOEM to see if it fits your model. The upgrade CD is about $7 from a dealer, and from what I had gathered from the posts contains upgrade software for the MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4 and the newer, MOST equipped cars... As a matter of fact, this part number is for the US software, there is a whole line of other CDs that fit other markets, like Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish in US, Spanish in Spain and bunch of others... Those CDs have their own part numbers... |
I have bought a few V. 32 disks from the dealer in the past. The disk itself does not list anything but MKI, II, III, Navi 01, Navi 02, Navi 03, and DVD-Top. This covers the I-Bus cars and the E65/66 MOST bus cars. DVD-Top is MKIV I assume. It also covers the MKIII/IV radio Mono nav. The V.32 SI B65 21 02 (Service Information Bulletin) does not list any non I-Bus cars other that the E65/66. It is in this post http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...n-v32-sib.html I also went to my 2011 ETK disk and find the disk for OS 01 59 0 141 891 is listed for ALL languages (no separate disks for different countries). Oddly The new ETK lists this disk for a lot of non I-Bus cars such as E60, 63/64, 70, 71, 90. My guess is that this is a mistake by BMW unless they have also come out with a SI B covering non I-Bus cars.

The mystery reigns yet again...

Hi, I have an E46 with SW4-1/40 V24 Sat Nav. Does anyone know what version I can upgrade to. Unsure after going through Version threads what my system will handle. Once upgrade then need to upgrade Maps for Australia or at least Victoria, Australia.
|
You can use Ver.32 which will give you 4-1/00 (4-1/100). The update CD costs about $10 at a US dealer. don't know what it is in Oz. You might contact a guy near Melbourne for some help. He posts on the e38 forum of bimmerboard.com under the name "farnarkler" (Terry Grey).
|
Thanks Roy in GA, I had jumped up the Ver. ladder after I located Ver. updates at the end of each thread and was starting to query what to do..started reading Ver.32 thread in detail and got the gist around page 6. Will seek out "farnarkler". Many thanks

Hi! I have question about v32 update. I want to update my MK4 DVD navigation on BMW e46. I don't have a Panorama view in my navigation, i checked in menu hidden functions also. So I want to ask which version of this hamepage Home i need to update. BMW Navigation OS - v32 (Original) or BMW Navigation OS - v32 (Night Mode, Camera Alerts, M Logo)?
I would like to get a panorama view and also a night mode. Thanks! |
Hi Guys,
I downloaded and burnt v32 today (the nightmode one), using ImgBurn at 1x speed. Followed the instructions in this thread, put the CD in it kicked off and then screen went black. Waited about 10 minutes and nothing, still black. Turned off key and back on again and the screen came on but very very basic graphics. Now I can't eject the CD from the Nav unit, it sounds like its constantly trying to read it. I tried the first method in this link but to no avail. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...ion-drive.html Any ideas on what i can do? I have a MkIV unit which was on 1/40 beforehand. EDIT: Managed to get the CD out, I actually unbolted the NAV unit in the boot and tilted it on the side so I could get access to the plugs, just pressed Eject and it popped out. I then re-burnt the CD at 10x speed and all went well. |
Any Update
Hi,
Did anyone get an answer to this one, I've been looking myself. Thanks Guys. Quote:

The first one you cite is an official BMW release, the second one is not, but rather something customized by a user. Up to you really.

NEW USER
Hi, so I've had a '99 528i, lost it, but the nav OS wasn't with the latest OS, I got it back in '07... anyways, I have a '04 E53 with MKIV I assume, my nav system reads 4-1/20... or something like that, and from prior posts I have a VERY old OS...brought the SAV in Jan of 2013 from a private seller who never used the navi because he said it drained his battery:dunno:.. I felt however that it was perhaps his screen and not the system so I swapped his ink blemished screen out with my unblemished screen. Suposedly when he had it plugged it would drain the battery "within a few days".
My whole point of my post is if I should update the navOS, and I do want the custom splash screen... there are too many pages to read to follow this discussion and if I should update do I use a blank CD or DVD? Where do I get the new maps from? the one in my nav currently is a 2002 map. Thank ANYONE for some insight :D |

You nav will show 4-1/00 if you have the final version. Feel free to chuck the guy a few dollars for his hosting bill and for collecting all those handy files. MK3 users should always take care to use MODE2/FORM1 images eg V24 or the drive will be bricked. |
you have MK4 as indicated by the 4-1/20, with color monitor, as indicated by the 4-1/20 , and sw version 18, or whatever the 4-1/20 is...
if you can source the part number 01 59 0 141 891 from a dealer (about $10), then you will get the lates sw version 32 for the MK4 on the original disk. otherwise, you need to find a place that hosts the image and burn it on a slow speed to a CD. the regualr instructions tell you to turn the key to ON and not run the engine - I actually ran engine, just to make sure that the battery does not die on me... it did not affect the updating procedure |

I am glad I could help :bustingup I did not know that a burned DVD could be used in place of the CD - mental note for future reference... When you called the dealer, did you give him the part number? usually they are clueless, and try to upsell you the maps for $200... lol... anyways, go into the hidden Nav menu (while in the settings screen, press and hold the menu knob, until the service menu appears)... when in the service menu, go through the options available, just to get to know what is there, and one of the options will be perspective view... set it to ON, and then go back to regular Nav screen... when you press the option for map view for North, or direction of travel, you will see the perspective... select it and - voila!!! remember, with perspective, you will lose the names of the streets (major ones will still be there)... All of that process is off my memory, so, you might want to do a search just to be sure on how to proceed... trust but verify!!! :nanana: |

i have not ventured into the custom screens but the Nav computer is looking for a different version number when it updates the firmware - so, your present version is 32, if you insert disk containing 25 or 35, the comp will take the disk, but if you insert modified firmware bearing version stamp of 32 - it will not... go figure, you can upgrade or downgrade but you can not reinstall...
So, most hacked versions have the 32.2 stamp, i think... as far as what to burn, we will need someone else to chime in... :) |
just changed my nav to 3d perspective!! looks much better! is there a way to change the color settings or do some type of night mode on it? btw this is on a 03 E53
|
Firmware that shipped with Rover 75 supported auto night mode when the lights went on. For the BMW you have to code a second colour theme with navtweak and select it manually.
I think there are some precompiled night mode skins on nial oakley's BMW site. |

will you look at that!
love it when features go backwards... |
Yep, and you'll notice you get one less colour set on the BMW.
|
is "v32_Night_all_ORG_v2 - POIson" 32.2?
|
There is no V32.2. It was V32 and that's it. PoiSon is a piece of code where they've added more POI such as speed cameras. So they upped the minor version for their own records.

Anyone in lower mainland BC have the update for mk4, iam willing to drive into washington aswell

Guys, I tired updating mine MkVI with the v32 on here, but interrupted the update and now there is no SatNav option on the menu screen. How can I restore this? I heard about downgrading versions, but cannot find an older version to download. Help.
Fixed by downgrading to v31. Now just need to update to v.32 |
Hi guys,
I've done many V32 Updates on the MK4s with the 16:9 screen. Now I have a friend with the small radio-navigation system. Looks like that: http://data.motor-talk.de/data/galle...navi-17117.jpg In the trunk there is an ordinary MK4 computer. Can I update this kind of Satnav with the ordinary V32 CD? If yes, anything special about it, something to take care of? And does it make sense - what new features will you get on that small arrow-navigation-system? Thanks in advance |
The factory Ver. 32 disc updates a MKIV color unit to SW 10.0 and a MKIV Radio nav to SW 10.0 also. I have never done a radio nav but expect the procedure is the same as for a color nav. Maybe kiwi (the Navcoder guy) or Didi could verify this. They are on this board and in your area also.
|
Don't see why not. As far as features are concerned, it really depends on how old the current operating system is. At some point during the lifecycle they improved route mapping, so that would be at least one benefit, again assuming the existing firmware predates those kind of updates.

Help needed
Hello,
A couple weeks ago i have bought a new car.. I never updated a navigation system before and would like to ask a few questions.. I have bought a X5 3.0i 2004/10.. I dont know what version of navigation system i have. How can i check what i have? do i have a mk1 mk2 mk3 or mk4? Can someone help me to update my navigation system? Thanks... |
congratulations on the ride!!! welcome to the forum... we want pics!!! take pictures of your car, post it here, for all to see!!!
on the main menu screen, select settings... look at the top right corner of the screen, it should have a number... 3-1/20 or something like that ... the first number is the MK - if you have MK4, then the number will be 4 the next number is your display, it should be obvious and thus irrelevant - if the is 1 - it is monochromatic (black and white), if it is 2- it is color... you know that already... last 2 digits are the software/firmware... the latest for MK4 is V32, which is listed as version 100, and the numbers are "00" check the number first, then lets see what you need next... |
I have checked the version and it says.. Sw 4-1/91..
Can i download and install fw version 32 directly or do i first need to do some other updates? And what are the improvements? Tommorrow i post screens of my car cause couldnt take them today because of the rain.. Hope u can help me.. Ty |
check with your local dealer for part number 01 59 0 141 891... it is about 10 US dollars, it is the update firmware, directly from the manufacturer, so there is no need to download it from some dubious sites
|
Today i updated my navigation system to v32.. All went well works like a charm ty for the information.
|
you are welcome...
did you get your perspective view activated? that is probably the most noticable upgrade over the older vesions... although, you might have had it with the version 91... (was it v.27? i don't remember... lol..) |
Yes i did get that view working. Got it in the secret menu when i pressed the menu button for 10 seconds. Put the new 2013 maps in and works.. Im planning to go to vacation to turkey but cant find the map of turkey anywhere, does it excist or am i searching for something that doesnt excist? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

GM everyone...
I just newly purchases a second hand Z4 E85 in Malaysia with MKIV navigation system. But the software version is only SW 4-1/91. Anybody kindly share with me the latest V32 version upgrade files? I tried to search but seemed all links are expired (maybe too old model), so please help. Thanks a lot! |

Wow! I just downloaded, burnt and installed v32 (with M logo and nightmode). What a difference it makes! It looks like a 'modern' GPS now. Especially with perspective mode. I wish I'd taken some before and after shots.
It was all very easy, I downloaded the file from neiloakley and used 'BURN' on my mac to burn the CD. The slowest my mac would burn was 8x, but it still worked perfectly. I also downloaded and burnt the latest maps DVD - I've gone from V10 to v19. Haven't used it yet, but it all loads up and seems to work! |

Awesome - I updated to version v32 last night! The process went very smoothly.
Now off to find some updated maps. Are they downloadable anywhere? |
Is there a USA / North America version available of firmware 01590141891 v32 index "y" available anywhere? I downloaded and installed the splash screen version from niel oakley and now lost functionality (Info and Select). Just want to get back stock.
|
Hello,
Does the V32 with M logo and night have the french langage ?? Thanks |
where in the menu you start cameras????
is there a hiden menu or something?? |
I feel like the idiot in the room, and probably am...
My Nav unit says SW4-1/50, I'm having trouble getting my arms around whether v32 is more or less than 1/50. Is there anything that makes the bluetooth that talks to the phone also talk to the music services that my phone has on it? I'd like to play Pandora, and others, from my phone through the audio system on my X5. I found an aux input jack and instructions on installing it, but since the system already uses bluetooth communications, then it seems logical to me that the system should be able to play music from the phone. |

I figured out my own question. I have v25, so I put in v32. I did not get a new splash screen with the ///M logo, but I do have SW4-1/00. I saw a video about adding the 3D perspective, but now I cannot find it. |
