Seller of disk reader mechanism?

Was told there was a guy in Europe who sells/sold disk reader mechanisms for the computers. Is that accurate?

I may need one for an MkIV. May is the keyword right now...

TIA

Good deal. You may have mail soon.

Well sadly that IV I was watching didn't happen.

Would these new readers work say if my battery died while my III was hooked up or is that something else?

If your Mk3 was hooked up and the battery died, it would not affect the Mk4, because the Mk4 would not be fitted to the car (you cannot have the Mk3 and the Mk4 fitted simultaeneously as there is only one set of plugs).

Or have I misinterpreted your question?

Perhaps you could re-phrase...

I probably bunched that together wrong. I meant I was watching an MkIV but was not able to bid because the seller would not ship to where I am. Item was in condition that reader did not work so had I bought it I would of needed a new one for a IV.

I do have the III now and am worried that if my battery were to die for whatever reason that I may lose it. Would the parts you sell be replacements for the parts that 'die' when the batteries do?

I think you want to direct your question to the dutch company that sells the nav parts.

I have nothing to do with that organisation whatsoever.

But if the Mk3 dies, it is the memory that gets corrupt and the memory is on the main board.

The Mk3 only has 4 key components:

Main board
GPS receiver
CD mechanism
Case

If the main board fails then either you send it to VDO in Germany for repair, or you replace the entire nav.
