Ok, I'm not sure if I had 3-1/63 loaded. So what I'm going to do on Friday is get the V31 (mode1) disc out of my system and reload the V29 disc that I know works for sure and that should get me back on track right?

here are some tips to help you get the stuck disk out of your nav drive - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ion-drive.html

Thanks a lot for the link. |
Success! I turned the ignition to position two and held the eject button for about 1.5 minutes and it just spat the disc right out. Now, I tried the exact same thing before and it didn't work but I'm not complaining. I popped in a mode2 V31 disc and the OS loaded right away. All of my settings including my address book was still there. I am VERY happy to have my NAV back. Next step, 16:9 screen upgrade ;)
Very special thanks to KiwiJochen and everyone else. Happy motoring. |
 all's well that end's well. glad to hear you got your nav system operating once again.

My advice: keep it at 3-1/63 and don't try and change it. Fingers off! Mk3s are very susceptible to failure, even when you do everything right. |
Advice taken. I will not touch my nav system again unless I decide to upgrade from a 4:3 screen to 16:9.

I have a 330i 01 with MKIII and had tried to install V32 from the version the car came with. I burnt a the copy with mode 1 on and the navigation turned white and the cd had gotten stuck. I then removed the cd with the tips yourll gave me. I now have a full white screen on all the time. I have reburnt the cd with v32 and mode 2 xa. I put the cd in with the car key in position 1 and nothing happened. I also have the keycd burnt with clone cd and 1x speed rite. how do I iniate the installation now. The screen is always white and I need to fix it soon. Please help me

Unfortunately the MkIII doesn't recover from a bad OS load as well as the MkIV. The best advice I can give is to keep trying and keep your fingers crossed that the nav drive isn't history.

Thanks a lot but I was actualy able to get it going again. I popped in a V32 disc and it loaded back up. Even my station presets on the radio were still there. Its been running and hasn't given me a problem since. I'm a happy camper. Next stop, 16:9!
