Mk4 2008-2 DVD - How to mod for Postcode search & cameras

Hi all,

Someone might have answered this in the past already.

Belive me i have searched long and hard enough to find a answer.

I need someone to tell me /help me with the following:L

I have got a 2008-2 High disk, which apprenetly has cameras & postcode search. I can find the POI for speed cameras but when i select it screen just goes blank and only option i have then is to back. but nothing shows on the screen ( i mean the camear)

Secondly I cannot find the POST code search. i tried INFORMATION>> etc etc but UK postcode search is not there. the dvd is 4.3GB in size i think.

can someone help me on this matter. either explain to me why its not working and how i get it to work.

Unless someone can tell me how to get the disk modded so i can have the cameras and 7 digit post code search.

by the dvd is download. Instructions or link or even a link to download the DVD would be great.

Regards

Sukh

Here's what I suggest:

1. Look at the POI data on the DVD. Determine what data is stored on your DVD. You'll need to use a hex editor to see this, or maybe postcodes will be visible in Notepad. Use one of the smaller POI files to make this manageable.
(If you have no post codes in the POI data, then you cannot do anything)

2. Determine the database field name for the post codes.

3. Edit the Search Form, which is an HTML web page. Add in the postcode fieldname.

4. Edit the search results form as well to show the data

5. Burn a new disc and try it!

If you send me one of the smaller (<100K) POI files I can have a look at the data too if you like.

There is a fault in the MENU dir structure of the modded POI, I had this on an early version of my disc, it's easy sorted, make an image of the disc, open with a iso editor and double check the POI menu structure in the ENG.LSC file, something is wrong in there.

It could be that the PSC (postcode search) DB is not on the disc, again (like jochen says) open the disc and have a look at the POI structure for the PCS POI.

See here for modding the disc, the proceedure is the same for the 2008-1 and the 2008-2

Following on from the advice of KiwiJochen, another workaround is to import postcodes as custom POI data. This functionality would not be integrated into the built-in address search function, however it will at least allow you to navigate to any length postcode.

If you happen to come across the UK 7-digit postcode file - please please PM me.

I believe it used to be available from Pocket GPS World but the British Post Office (owners of the data) told them to remove it.
