nav computer

does the nav computer (mkiii) red power light stay on constant or should it go when the car is asleep? help appreciated

KiwiJochen 11-09-2008 02:58 PM

The light stays on when the nav is awake, flashes when writing to flash-memory, and goes out 60s after the car has gone to sleep

ie: close and lock car, then nav switches off 60sec after car has been locked.

the nav light is on all the time even when the car is asleep

Confused nav. Use NavCoder, Load Defaults, which will reload OS.
Or load V17, then load >V22 to force full reload.

Has been known to work.

To install V17:
1. Insert V17 disc
2. Follow instructions on screen
3. Remove disc when finished.

To install V22:
1. Insert V22 disc
2. Follow instructions on screen
3. Remove disc when finished.

Do one then the other.

Key CD is needed if you wish to go from V17.1 (or earlier) to V18 (or later)

To avoid the key CD issue, downgrade to anything between V18 and V21
(old EPROM memory layout)

Then reload >V22 (new EPROM memory layout, 3-1/63 software)

>V22 means any OS CD which is V22 or higher - they all contain the same 3-1/63 OS version for the Mk3.

The goal of the exercise is to force an entire new flash memory load, by going to the old memory map (<=V21) and then to the new memory map (>=V22)

ok i have downloaded winRAR and imgburn, downloaded and then extracted the 17.1, keycode and 27.1 and got three files for 17.1 (.ccd .img .sub), three for the nav key (.ccd .img .sub) and only one for the 27.1 (.img)

is this what i should have expected?

now what (.ccd .img .sub) do i burn to cd?

and i read somewhere that the mode must be 1 or 2 how do i do that?

lastly is v27 safe to use on my mkiii as i read somewhere certain version make the mkiii go wrong?

Burn the IMG image file to the CD using ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com)

Mk3 only crashes if IMG file is in the wrong format

Mode2/Form 1 is the correct format
Mode2 is wrong format

ImgBurn displays the format
