I have fitted a the complete entertainment system on my wifes X5 here in the UK. This includes a DVD, PS2, TV on Nav harness and two rear headrest screens.

Took me about 6 hours over about three weekends and a lot of references to the web in between.

Can you display your navigation map etc. on the rear headrest screens or (like others I've seen) is it the TVonNav and DVD/PS2 content that can viewed on all three screens?

Sorry I'm a bit confused as to why anyone would want to display the nav screen to the rear seat passengers, after all they are not driving are they! My kids would much rather watch a DVD of someone being decapitated than details of the road at spaghetti junction!

Anyway on a more helpful note I am in the middle of installing headrest screens in my second X5. I have gone for Necvox 6.5" widescreens and an Alpine DVD changer mounted where the OEM cd changer fits. You will need the Aux input to get the dvd audio in stereo though. So you will need a car that is 2002 or newer or you will need to update the tuner to the Becker version fitted from 2002 and on.

My major problem with the headrest screens was how to get the cable from the headrest screen into the seat without it showing. My solution was to machine a slot down one of the headrest shafts for the cable to pass through.
Looks very neat and OEM! If you are in the UK I may be able to help as I have access to a machine shop.

I will post some photo's of the headrest install as soon as I get a chance!

i am thinking of putting a dvd player in my X5 (05) With nav and dsp but i want it to sound great like the stereo not like the TV comes out any ideas ? And has anyone got good setting for DSP? many thanks

For the audio, install the BMW Aux Input kit and pipe your audio from your DVD player through that. It's what I did - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=30

I have to think this is possible. My CPO car came with the BMW roof mounted screen and DVD system... as you scroll the screen video inputs, one of them that shows up is NAV. Now, I know that the screen/DVD system is from Alpine, so maybe it's a leftover from their system, but I would suspect that BMW would have asked for that to be removed if it was not available somewhere in the world. Anyone have a translated version of the German manual for the BMW video/DVD system? Maybe it's something we can figure out how to turn on, or add an input for... Just a thought.
