Go to bimmerboard.com nav forum and look for my posts #230,716 and 523,380. They have all the P/Ns for BMW Video Modules.

I've been looking in to this too and it is hard to work out, but from what I can establish I think part 65509147139 is a good number.

Roy in GA posted the following list to bimmerboard in 2006:
Video Module (TV module) part numbers are of the form 65 50 x xxx xxx. These units can be installed in I-bus cars such as e38, e39, e46, x5, x3, z4 but NOT I-drive cars such as e65/66, e63/64, e60/61 and e90/91. The part numbers start with the most recent I have found at the top of the list and the list is broken into 5 sections. I have seen many of these units on ebay and the remaining ones are from the BMW ETK disks. Section 1 contains the hybrid analog/digital units. 9 118 577 9 112 837 9 126 252 6 126 251 6 988 906 6 908 079 6 962 212 6 966 696 6 966 615 Also used in retrofit kits. 6 962 190 6 956 832 Section 2 and remaining numbers are for analog units. 6 953 002/003 4 124 836 6 946 423 6 945 298 Also used in retrofit kits. 6 936 759 6 936 096 6 923 418 6 923 268 6 924 749/750 6 916 136/137 6 911 221/222 6 906 923/924 6 903 727/728 These parts may NOT support wide screen. 6 902 015/016 These parts may NOT support wide screen. Section 3 MKII Nav vintage part numbers for small screen. 8 385 959 6 900 858 4 100 223 See http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/230716/ |
Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated.

The P/Ns 65 50 9 147 138/139 were new in 2008 and in my post # 523,380.
|
Do you know what the difference is between the 138 and the 139 modules?

See realoem for examples. |
138 is New and 139 is RMFD.
|
FYI. P/N 65 50 9 147 138, the new analog/digital ("High") video module has now been superseded by 65 50 6 988 079.

I found that new number on the ETK but it did not show that it was for the I-bus cars or that it replaced that prior P/N. Are you sure it's not for the MOST bus cars?
|
I'm not 1000% certain, but I will say that all the parts ordering sources I've checked show the 138 to be superceded by 079. For example see here:

That's interesting. I went to Crown BMW and found the same. When I went to the Factory BMW ETK site, parts.bmwgroup, they don't show the replacement just the new number and no supersession. Of course it doesn't do us any good since we have the screwed up US digital system that other countries don't use.
|
Yeah that is weird. I agree, our system sucks. I just wanted to help update your list. Incidentally, when BMW says "High" does that mean Hybrid? Because if so, then a large number of the tuners you list as analog only are listed as High, which might change things.
BTW, any news on whether a converter for the BMW tuner is out yet that works well? Quote:

Ok thanks for explaining this to me. Now I have to find someone who can do this for me in the North London area or buy the software and do it myself!
|
Ok this issue is sorted i used NavCoder as you suggested many thanks NBTBRV8
|
i wish i saw this thread sooner... in case if somebody runs into this situation again, most TV tuners have 6 languages built in but they are not accessible, since the setup menu displayed on the screen comes from Nav computer (unless you don't have nav comp and ONLY TV module - in this case you will not even be asking this question)...
If you disconnect your navigation computer from the car, the menu on the screen will be generated by the TV module... one of the screens will be settings for the TV module, where you can find the language entry... voila!!! http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...reenshots.html |
Hi TerminatorX5 i posted this issue up weeks ago but nobody could tell me how to sort this issue out till last week! So your saying all i had to do is disconnect the computer i wish i had known this few weeks ago. Many thanks for letting me know though.
|
hey mate, sorry for coming late to the party... i have so many things outside of the computer, i barely have time to check my FB, and the xoutpost, the couple of places that i frequent...
|
Hi TerminatorX5 yeah i know what you mean about not spending all your time on your computer! But some of the other group member's could have answered my question.
