Is this the Nav disk or the Nav operating system?
When driving from Brooklyn to Manhattan recently I had the Nav preferences set to Avoid Tolls Roads and still the computer directed me to the midtown tunnel which is a TOLL tunnel. Given there are plenty of other non-toll options to get to Manhattan (Brooklyn bridge, Williamsburg bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Queensboro bridge) I am confused as to why the system did this. I tried changing the preferences to fast route, short route, with highways, avoid highways, etc. (all while retaining no-tolls), but the system wouldn't change its mind. Does anyone know if this is a function of the Nav computer (and operating system) or the Nav data disk itself? I'm running ver 29 and the latest nav disk.

Could be the map disc "thinks" that road has no tolls, how old is the map disc?

It's the latest nav disk. Considering that NYC is one of the best mapped places in the US and it was specifically updated in the latest disk update, I'd be completely amazed if they didn't know the difference between toll and no toll.

Updating the OS is easy and free (see other posts here for the download / install instructions). If the NAV still offers you the Midtown Tunnel as a toll-free route, submit a map error report to NavTeq here. |
Never thanked you for the advice. Thanks.
BTW, is this the same TK with the awesome 3 wagon? |
