E39 M5 - MK2 nav + 4:3 - No GPS option in menu?

Hey chaps,

My first post on x5World. - Great forum you have here. You guys seem to be the authority on BMW Nav, so I've come for some help.

I've just bought an E39 M5, 2000 (pre-facelift) with the 4:3 screen and MK2 nav (CD Based, I believe?)

Anyway, the unit in the boot is powered on, with an LED flashing (Labelled 'ON') when I look in the boot. A few times today (the first day I have owned the car) the CD has been ejected when I've opened the boot - so I've pushed it back in. The 'CD IN' light never lights up. When I am in the car, the screen has the following options:

Onboard Computer
Aux. Vent. (?)
Something I can't remember
Code (Greyed out)
Turn Off Monitor

but, more importantly, nothing for GPS/Navigation.

So, two questions.

- Firstly, why can't I see GPS/Nav on the screen?
- Secondly, how come the CD ejects?

Hopefully the answer to both is not 'Fauly unit'.

Cheers!
