Setting a via point in SatNav?
Hi guys,
I took delivery of my brand new 3.0d a couple of days ago and have been delighted with it! It was a step down from my beloved 4.4i but the fuel consumption, looks and features far outweigh any regrets. One thing I cannot figure out how to do (I really hope that I can!!) is setting a via point as part of a destination in the sat nav. Eg. I want to go from my home address to the airport but via my friends house to pick him up. Even a $/€100 portable sat nav unit gives that feature! Please someone tell me I can do this? Thanks guys |
A brand new car will have a brand new owner's manual.
Tried that? |
What a clever reply - Of course I've tried the manual!
Which is why, in the absence of a solution, I'm asking the question on here. |
Trouble is, most people on this board have the Mk3 or Mk4 nav system in their car, and not the newer iDrive nav in the 2nd generation X5.
I have plenty of info on the older cars, but less on the iDrive nav, so I cannot help directly. Sorry. |
OK KiwiJochen,
Thanks anyway. Seems to me that it cant be done. However, with the subscription to the BMW connected drive option included I hope that I'll be able to choose and pick my exact route from a google map site directly to the car. Which will work very well. Just got to wait for the sub to come thru now. |
I bet it's there - it has been present in BMW navs for the last 10 years, I doubt they'd remove it.

I dont follow you???
A goto via option was never in the older MK4 satnav? My previous X5 was a 4.4i and it never had the option to goto a point via another! Or am I being completly stupid here??!? |
Ah, sorry, mixing up nav systems with another model :-)
What I used to do was to enter my desired route using all "via" locations before I left home, ie: enter them one by one as destinations. And then along the journey just select them as "recent destinations", which was a quick and easy way to plan and then implement the journey Sorry if I confused you. |
