OEM Video Module - What else do I need?

I have an opportunity to buy OEM video module (part # 65506953002). It does not show up in realoem.com so I don't know exactly what it is, or what the MSRP is. (What do these usually go for used?)

I have a USA model 2004 325xi with BM53 radio, widescreen CD, and MKIV (v32).

Anyhow, I have a few questions I'm hoping some of the experts can help me out with:

  • I want to use this for a DVD player and an OEM reverse camera (not TV). Will this do the job?
  • Is there a mounting bracket that connects this module somewhere between the BM53 radio and the Sirius tuner? I can't find the part # for the mounting bracket and it doesn't seem to be in the OEM TV retrofit instructions: http://www.bigpatsfans.com/bmwtv.pdf
  • Is there an OEM cable that has standard RCA video outputs that will allow me to connect my DVD player?

Thanks!

Here are pics of the exact module:

Open questions still standing... ;)

Some looked this up in the ETK for me... Here are the results:

Part number 65506953002 is a video-module, high, uncoded. Part number expired in 08/03/2005. Last number in supercession is 65509178795 which expired in 13/08/2008. Not finding a current part number. However the current Rmfd number appears to be 65509178796.

Well, it looks like the correct TV module for your car, you still get the TV regardless.

Unknown, the module should just fit in the cage, if you have nav, on the e46 it goes next to the bm53 radio module and under the mk4.

This was very helpful thanks!

Final question: If I use this for a DVD player using that aftermarket kit, do I still have the ability to connect an OEM reverse camera?

Thanks!

Not sure, that lead looks like it only uses the TV modules AUX in as the AV in, you can adapt it to have the RV camera as well (at a guess).

The revese camera normally plugs into the TV module via dedicated pins, you may need to get a couple of pins/wires from the dealer and hack a phono lead up and make one (pennies) and connect it to the white plug (pin 13, camera in, pin14 camera GND) and for the auto switching (when you place the car in reverse) you need to use pin17 (blue plug) to GND, as the auto trigger.

Great thanks!

Curious if you got the cables (looms)? Reason is that I purchased one a while ago for my X3 but never found a source for the interconnecting cables (not the one mentioned above) but rather the OEM cables for the TV module installation.

The TV kits for X3 are P/N 65 50 0 306 968 or 65 50 0 397 353. Ask your dealer to print you the instructions and parts list for it. The TV cable for it is P/N 61 12 0 304 979 I think. You will also need the Antenna Amp and the 2 TV cables. Remember that the TV will go away in June and the Euro digital Video module doesn't work in the US because we picked a digital system different from the rest of the world. You can still use it for a rear camera and a DVD player input and these don't need the TV antenna.
