er, yeah that doesn't work. You have 2 options:

1. Get the CDs for your car. NAVTEQ Maps and Traffic

2. Swap your MKIII CD drive for an MKIV DVD drive. You can use your 2005 DVD then.

Thanks for the reply i am aware of the two options that you gave but was hoping to use stuff that I already have .Do you know why it wont work ?What is the unresolvable issue between cd & dvd conversion in this case? cheers Rondo

Well... I don't know for sure... but the file format is probably different, and obviously the size is an issue too (3+ GB for the DVD vs. 650MB for a CD).

Even if you could somehow extract the data and get it onto a CD, you're playing with fire with an MKIII and burnt CD.

If you're looking for the cheapest way of getting this working with your MKIII, I would try to find a legit CD 7 on ebay. You can probablt get it for around $30 for an older year...

Map 7: South East U.S. Release 2007.2
This Map CD includes the entire states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolia and parts of North Carolina.

Edit: Here's a 2005 map for $50:

It's really simple one look at the DVD and you will see the map file alone is larger than the CD's storage capability (Note: this statement valid for large countries/continents such as USA or Europe, not valid for small countries ie Singapore, Australia, New Zealand).

I could add in other issues like the map format and file format is different - but we don't even need to go there, as it simply won't fit as I believe you're in the USA.

So it's a no go - you have to buy a CD-map applicable to your region of the world for use in a Mk3.
