New Mk4 nav not reding DVD!!!!

Can anyone help me I got a new mk4 sat nav computer to replace my mk2 all went in nice. But I didn’t have the DVD I have sins got a BMW road map Europe professional 2005-1 DVD from Ebay. But when I put it in it says the wrong cd/dvd inserted. So I updated the OS from V20.1 to V26 I got from this site. And put the DVD in again but it's still says the same. Do I have the right DVD or am I just doing something wrong? :dunno: HELP!!!!!!!

try you old CD from your Mark II. If that works, your DVD is defective but the player works. if not, the player may be damaged.

sometimes, downgrading the OS upgrade fixes this. I'll let the pros at this answer.

i'm still afraid of upgrading my own OS as X5monkey had a bad experience and had to buy a new DVD unit...

Another possibility is the DVD that you have is for vehicles based on the MOST-bus, such as the new 5, 6 and 7 series BMW's. What you need is the DVD that is for i-bus based vehicles, such as the X5.

They are not interchangable :tsk:

Yes, that sounds like the problem. The DVD map disc is different for the different systems and they can't be read by the other.

If the OP was able to update the operating system then that rules out a hardware issue, and the fact that it displays an 'insert disc' message means that it is probably wired correctly... that only leaves the map disc.

The Professional Disc does not work with the X5 only the High disc.

You will have to buy another disc. :(
