Hi ccfj1,

I got the disc through, thanks for that. very kind of you.
Unfortunately it hasn't worked.
I followed the instructions religiously, and have tried a number of times, grr.....

The drive is reading the disc, i can hear it spinning up etc... but when i turn the ignition to the first turn, the screen instantly displays the Blue screen date...

I guess my only option is to either get this unit replaced, or send it off for repair somewhere..

Although.....

I heard something about unplugging the unit for ten minutes and then reconnecting and trying to flash the drive again, is this worth me trying? or should i just face that i have broken this unit?..... I have disconnected the battery for five minutes, which didn't work, just reset all the clocks and tripometer.

No, I don't think this will work, the rom is corrupted and as such no amount for unplugging will fix it, the rom requires a reload.

Stan 24v 10-07-2009 03:44 PM

John how do you reload the ROM mate?

KiwiJochen 10-07-2009 03:46 PM

Take a good Mk4, unsolder ROM, copy with ROM reader

Take bad Mk4, unsolder ROM, program with ROM writer

Resolder ROMs in both Mk4s

ccfj1 10-07-2009 03:51 PM

lol, Jochen beat me to it Stan,

The only other ways are good OS via cd, or rom reload on the bench with the mk4 connected to a PC/diagnostic unit.

Mk IV sat-nav same problems

Guys

I appreciate this is a fairly old post but after searching for an answer to my current problem I seem to of stumbled upon the answer. Mine is a similar problem to the blue screen in the pictures, however after a short while the sat-nav unit re-boots and ever thing seem ok for a while. Then it decides to just keep freezing and resetting itself. I've up graded from v31 to v32 and then back again but nothing seem to work. do I assume I also need to buy a new Mk IV sat-nav unit.

Thanks in advance:bustingup
