HELP for an idiot !!!
 

Hi everyone,
I am a "helpless female !" I have an 54 range rover that i have taken out the mark 3 and put in the mark 4,so far so good.The navigation system is in english roads etc but the computer and poi are in italian,while generally a lover of all things italian this is no good.
I would like an IDIOT proof way of changing the language and also upgrading to speed cameras & seven digit postcodes.
As you can guess i am not very computer/dowlnload savy.
So if the ibstructions could be as plain as humanly possible

The only way is to recode your mk4.

What languages are available currently?

(press menu, then set, then look for the languages section)

It is possible to hack the system by swapping the languages around in a modded OS, but this is not ideal and can have knock on effects.

If your languages are as above then just select GB and it should change all the nav, phone, computer, and radio to GB, if you have ita still then I would say that you have a problem with the map disc (perhaps).

Or she has a Mk4 with a modified OS loaded, where the last user changed all GB text and voice to become IT

If so, reload a standard OS

The OS is the operating system of the mk4 nav computer and controls all the nav function and well as the GUI (screen interface).

Download one of these.

v32 OEM (with ===BMW=== splash screen).

Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it (using winzip or similar) into a sub-dir on your pc.

Then use imgburn or similar (The Official ImgBurn Website) to burn a new (blank) cd with the new downloaded firmware image.

v32 is the latest, but has no updates for the mk4 over v31).

unzip imgburn, then v31 image and then open imgburn, and select the "write image file to disc" then select the v32.cue (i think) file.

Select the write speed as x1 (or the slowest rated speed for the disc, you must do this) and then burn on a good quality cd.

When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Go to the car open the drivers door,
Go to the nav computer and press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd, and remove from drive
Confirm reboot.

That's it.

Do not switch off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

i have done as kindly instructed,however this has now changed the sat nav languges as I,D,F so now everything is in a foreign language.
