GPS antenna

I'm having intermittent satellite loss on the MkIV Nav in my 2004 X5 4.8iS. It was suggested to try a generic GPS antenna (from eBay) to see if it's the antenna or cable at fault but there appear to be different connectors available. Does anyone know if the correct connector is: mMCX, OSX, MCX or 2.5mm & if the BMW antenna is powered? Thanks from down under.

The BMW antenna is powered (as are all GPS antennas)

You need an antenna with a SMB connector on the cable

These are quite common, and quite cheap :-)

...and prey...afaik, intermittent satellite loss problem is (often) associate with mk's antena connector and not with gps antenna

Many thanks for the information.
Where does the GPS antenna actually live. If the trial replacement one solves the satellite loss problem, where do I have to permanantly position it?

PS. Where in Switzwerland do you live? In January this year my wife & I travelled by train through Switzerland & spent a week skiing in StMoritz. We loved the country, the people & the whole experience.

Depends on the car. It's different for Touring, Sedan, Cabriolet, X3, X4....

OK, you have an X5

Antenna is on the top of the tailgate, under the mini-spoiler

But as long as the antenna has an unobstructed view of the sky, it'll be fine. Stick it next to the rear window as a temp location, it'll work.
