Need Help w/ Old Nav System
 

Greetings fellow BMW fans!
I just acquired a 2000 X5 with Navigation. Have the 7-pak of CD's but the device does not recognize any of them. I understand from previouse owner that the system worked fine last July but they replaced the battery since then (? loss of pwr to computers). Perhaps I need the O/S Software reloaded. Where can I find this to download, burn to CD & load into my Nav System?

My system is Second generation with the following code in URH corner:
SW 2 - 1/81.

I understand from "UcrewX5' post that this translates to Generation II, Full Color Screen, Software Ver. 81. SO, can someone please hel me find this software & avoid an service charge at the "Stealership". My previouse owner was kind enuf to provide me with CD's from rel 2006.2.

2-1/81 was the last OS upgrade for a MKII. I assume you have the small screen. What does it do or not do? Are they maps copies or originals? Borrow a map from someone to test.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have the small screen. The 3:4 I think.
I have a set of 7 new map cd's from NAVTEQ ver.2006.2 for North America.

My system does not read them however & am trying to get a copy of Operating System software ver22 or better to reload.

Default is, of course, the Dealer.

Any help finding a link to the ver.22 O/S would be appreciated. Everything on the site is expired.

You already have the latest OS, so trying to load the OS again won't achieve anything

Likely the laser has died.

Get a Mk3, or better still a Mk4, and enjoy much faster navigation.
