age? LCD have a limited life span
|
My '04's been back to normal mode after a 3 week stint on the dark side. I understand bulb failure etc but ive been cycling through this for probably close to 2 years.
My local dealers say theyve "never seen this" which i dont beleive, too many people here seem to share the same problem. Does anyone know where we can obtain repair manuals on the screen Peter D |
MY X5 is 08/2005 manufactured date.

I fixed mine!!!
Like the others here, my screen would start dim and slowly brighten up. Also, if I set the brightness to maximum to compensate, it would "forget" the setting the next time I started the car. My battery was dying for a while, and I never made the connection to my screen. Today, I replaced the battery, and my screen came back to life with its old brightness. What's more, it even remembered the brightness setting that I had long ago. So, if your battery is old, you might try a new car battery to fix this. |
The LCD's of laptops use the same CCFL to brighten the display. I won't if this is something that can be found on ebay? I'm surprised the little bits and pieces I can find on there sometimes.
