Nav Voice Commands

Right now my car cannot accept Voice Commands for Nav. Just Phone.... I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade to this feature on my 2006 X5 with a build date of 08/2006. I'm not sure which module i have. Will i need to buy some new hardware? if so, which part number and how hard would it be to install? plug and play?

i've searched and couldn't find the answer that pertains to my vehicle.

thanks

Do you have the TCU or ULF fitted

If TCU, it does not support nav commands

Only ULF supports nav commands...

i don't know which one i have.....how do i find out?

Do you have a pairing button?

The ULF requires a pairing button to initiate pairing mode
The TCU automatically starts pairing mode when ign is turned on

So either look for the pairing button (ULF), or check with your phone in pairing mode and see if you can see the car visible during the pairing process when you turn the ign on (TCU)

I must have the TCU then because it does not require me to pair the phone each time i get into the Car. It automatically detects it.....oh well....thanks for your help.
I wish there was some way i could get this because i hate entering in destinations manually. This system is quite archaic compared to my Acura.

Thats not what I said or meant

Once pairing is established, it stays established, for both TCU and ULF.

So your observation has not determined what you have

The difference is how the Pairing Mode is initiated!!

So UNPAIR your phone, and then go through the pairing process to determine what module you have

[QUOTE=KiwiJochen;684112]Do you have a pairing button?

What does the pairing button look like and where would it be located? i have the sneezing man button and the RT button

the salesman at the dealership paired my phone and i don't remember how he did it....i remember him telling me to just put my iphone in discovery mode and enter in a passcode...

not even sure how to unpair my phone and am afraid if i do so i won't be able to re-pair it again.

I find the voice commands very hard to work with and not worth the effort
