MKIII ejecting map disc on my MG-ZT
Afternoon all,
I recently purchased an MG ZT complete with the MKIII SatNav (which I have been lead to believe is the same as those installed within BMWs). When I power on the SatNav the map disc ejects. Before buying a new Map Disc as this may be the problem I figured I would try to update the OS/Software/Firmware or whatever its called! Firstly can this be done on an MG fitted MKIII as I have read a few posts saying that the Firmware gets locked? Secondly if this can be done which version should I update to and is there a good step by step guide available? Many thanks in adavnce, Jackyboy |
nobody knows if you can upgrade the OS on a Rover Factory Fitted MKIII Satnav?
|
what version is fitted now?
it has been around 6-8 years since the last range rover OS update, you might already have the latest OS loaded. |
and if the map is ejecting you might have a dead laser in the mkiii
|
it is a 2005 model MG ZT 4.6 V8.
Unfortunately can't check what version is currently running as when I put SatNav on it just says insert disc... Whenever we put the disc back in it just gets ejected again.. so as Kiwi says its possibly a dead laser? Im not upgrading the version for more features I was just hoping it was corrupt or would somehow fix the ejecting CD by loading a new OS! Let me know what you think, many thanks |
You don't need a map disc to check the OS version
Look on the top right of the Settings screen, there is displays the OS version number. |
anyway the OS version is irrelevant i dont care about upgrading i just want to reload the OS software
|
Not really. There is no point reloading the OS if you already have the latest version
You achieve nothing in a very risky way. You can kill the Mk3 if you create a OS disc in the wrong format Hence I repeat: if you already have the latest version loaded, do not touch it! One more: what version is loaded now? |
Jack dump the mk3 and buy a mk4, then install the latest OS with the splash changed to rover (there are a few on here).
