This is the unit used in the BMW DVD (multimedia) changer setup. Does anyone recognize the brand and, if possible, the model?

Wow, that was quick! Looks like you know your stuff! Ok, so how about this one which is the BMW DVD (multimedia) player setup? The remote looks the same but nothing on that website resembles this unit.

In searching for a digital tuner option for the USA market I came across some retrofit information and noticed BMW uses these two DVD units in separate multimedia kits. I was curious if they were still available from the manufacturer, the specs, etc.

I don't think they interface with the BMW system at all, they look more like they might be for use with a seperate LCD and infrared eye for the rear seat passengers. I could be wrong though, I usually am. Keep us posted on what you find :D

No, they were both included in official BMW accessories catalogs as parts of kits for the E53 X5.

What I meant (but didn't actually write) was that I don't think they are controlled over the iBus, instead forming a standalone DVD system.

Gotcha. I didn't understand. I think you are probably correct though I haven't taken the time to look at the wiring schematics yet.
