You are sending back under warranty? In that case, clean all the water off, do not solder anything, reassmble with great care, pakcage lovingly and send it away.

If they think you got it wet, if they think you opened it, if they tink you soldered it, if you pack it badly, they will refuse the repair.

Today I got the MK4 back from Germany, very disappointing they dident repair it? or offered any spare parts/repair price. It was hard to translate the letter but it read something like:

(google translate:)

Dear ladies and mens.
how they can see on the enclosed photo is from a liquid damage.

We can repair the damage 22SY588/23 basis of the no longer and send them to our relief Back

We regret they can not be a positive decision to

Very bad translater but I guess they couldnt repair so they just shipped it back. But wht dident they offer me to buy a replacement pcb? Do anyone know someone that actually did get a replacement board ? Is it possible to buy as a spare part? The DVD drive works fine.

thanks

They likely did not offer a replacement PCB because the PCB comprises around 70% of the cost of the device

Remember, VDO have to give guarantee with their work so they will only repair damage if they are positive that it will be like new afterwards

Your next step is to ask Autotronic in Australia if he will attempt a repair for you.
Remember, the cases are generally 50/50 as to whether the corrosion / water damage can be successfully repaired.

Ok. I understand it, but not fully.. Because the main PCB is the entire computer minus frame and dvd drive. So IF they replaced that and the DVD worked fine then they could give a warrenty as the only other thing is the frame which possibly couldnt in any way mess up the unit....

But nevermind.. My main concern is now how do i get a hold of Autotronic? is that a username in here? I would like to chat a little before sending my unit. Like what the procedure is and what exactly he is going to do etc etc to estimate if it is worth shipping on the other side of the world. Because I cleaned the hell out of it and there are really no vissibel damage to see no longer... so im just curious of what he will do ? If its a clean then I think we can save it.

Autotronic is a member on this forum. Search for his posts and read then.

Talk to him.

Yeah you are correct.. I am shipping to otherside of the world.. autotronic. Heard great things about this "wizard". :)

However I dont set my hopes to high .. I am very good at doing that and then it turns out not the way I wanted anyway. (un-repairable ex.)

But you never know! :nanana:

Problem fixed!

User : autotronic is a GOD! He managed (dont know how!) to repair and fix the unit a 100%! .. It powered right up, menus are working, apparently nav are working as I took a small route, white lines are gone.. everything seems perfect! Will confirm 200% in a few days!!! This is truely incredible! I am so thankful for people like autotronic. You have no idea how happy I am. I am having extremly expensive engine repairs so this is truely a treat in bad times.... Can only recommed this guy if anyone have problems!!

Once again thanks!!!!
