Which dump did you finally used? the one supplied from "cream"? i tried this dump and i donīt have the option audiotext, even so i could update my older BM54NG to have aux-in. now i definately would like to have to audiotext option.

will it work with aux-in input or do i definately need a mp3 changer? actually i just have an older cd changer from 2002 (is it the cause why i donīt have the option right now and maybe the dump was written wright? )

kind regards

(edit) retested it by soldering a flashed 29F400 to an 44/2004 BM54NG where i got the SA35FTW from and again, i didnt got the option "audiotext"

any idea whats wrong with my BM54īs?

Not sure how you think a simple AUX in, with left, right and ground channels will send iD3 tags.
You must have an MP3 Changer, and the discs must be burnt in a certain way.

Hi,

I managed to desolder all 44 pins using my soldering iron. I heated up the pins and lifted them just a litle bit using a tiny sewing needle - one by one. Still - I couldnt remove the eprom - it was glued to the board. So I decided to use dental floss to loosen the eprom. But I only got half way through. Then I decided to use my fingers to gently pry the eprom of the board. After five minutes it still wouldnt move - I was about to give up - all of a sudden it came off in one piece

After that I used a pump to remove some of the solder. I soldered the new eprom to the board - heated up every pin twice - no additional solder needed - just used what was left on the board - no bridges. I reassembled the whole thing and installed it in my car.

I turned on ignition - wtf - where are my radio stations - they come up after 10 seconds - ah ok.
I pushed the "INFO" button and turned on "Audiotext" - changed to CDC - and here we go -> ID3 TAGS
But I couldnt hear anything - turned up the volume - still nothing - turned it up further - damn - still nothing - big shock.

At this point I really thought that Ive killed the BM54. Have I just wasted some 400 Euros? Ahhh wait... forgot that Ive cut all speaker wires to install the high-low adadpter. Also I have removed the OEM Harman Kardon amp :dunno: Hence the lack of sound - no amp - no music. So I have not yet been able to check all functions but it behaves just the way its supposed to.

So Mad Presley, Toadhall and Cream, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Im really happy that it worked out. I have unsuccesfully searched for info on the firmware update for weeks until I found you guys!

THANK you for sharing the info with the forum and THANKS for the effort! Keep up the good work!

@Toadhall:
The AMD eprom ist the one I ordered from progshop.com
If they dont ship to your area - let me know :)

Many thanks to the contributors to this thread, this is a much better option than buying a new BM54.

silyb0y, can you please confirm which firmware binary you used?

BM54 with audiotext

Hi.

Where can I find the latest firmware for BM54 with audiotext option?

I made the firmware update and no audiotext still available, and the radio reception is bad. All other stuff works well.

Thanks.

Press 'select' button on the right and whilst the mp3 disc is selected, you should have an option for audiotext. Tick it.

Hi there.

Does anyone know where can I get the firmware? Or a place where I can get the chip already with the firmware?

Thanks.

Hi, sorry for bumping an old thread, but I am tinkering my BM54 for two days now, and still out of luck flashing 29f400 . I managed to connect C161 to TTL serial adapter and processor was detected by FLASHit, then I successfully made a flash dump and tried to flash new firmware back, but got time-out error

Attachment 63661

So far tried: +12V on RST, different baud-rates in FLASHit, all "Target reset" configuration possible, flashing from other computer and then from Windows XP 32bit virtual machine. Any thoughts?

P.S. I will try to get my hands on Willem Programmer this Wednesday, hope it will comes with PSOP44 adapter.
Also, while searching the internet on this problem I got some info on making Line-out's, Aux-in and stock Amps upgrade (with TDA7375 or TDA1557Q).
I also found firmware from this units:

Hello,

Hope this helps. You got the hardware setup correctly but still I think I know what it has to be done in order to write to the flash.

Enter Flashit configuration and in Target system tab make sure the SYSCON0 is 0x1094 (default is 0x0094).

Next, under "flash memory" section select External memory and Basic address: 0x100000

That should do it.
