BM54 VCR audio inputs.

Has anyone ever found out what these VCR inputs do and if they can be activated? Ideally for a DVD retrofit via a TV module.

All the cars from the period don't use these pins and they are marked as NOT USED. I can't find any VCR retrofit thread or anything so I have no idea how BMW intended it to work.

Probably for BMW individual.

I did once see a BMW VCR on eBay. Like the DVD system on the X5, it was for use with a seperate remote control, there was no ibus support.

I'm wondering if the BM54 detects the impedance change on the pins and switches AV audio from the tv tuner from mono to stereo. That is the only way I can imagine they acheived VCR support without an ibis interface to add an extra VCR mode to the bmbt display.

Dont know about the VRC pins mate, but I've often wondered about the line out....

Agreed, but there is a simple 4 channel pre out mod for BM54 too.

Definately. In fact, I ordered some RCA females to fit into there for testing on Saturday :)
