Navigation Update, no clue where to start.
Hello All,
I have a 2006 X5 4.4, my nav is SW4-1/60, I am not sure which version this is. the nav disk is 2005.2 North America. The navigation is extremely slow and the nav disk is out of date. Could someone point me in the right direction as to how i would update the OS on the nav. What version should i put on and how do I do it myself. Also are the disks available somewhere to download. Thanks for all the help. Robert |

Be sure to follow the specific burning instructions regarding the MODE/FORM settings and also the burn speed, and use a CDR. Failure to do so will lead to failure to update and possible bricking of the nav drive.

Bob,
As I found out I have v. 26 right now on my MK4. Which version is most stable, what would you suggest I upgrade to? Rob |
You want the latest version. The stability is fine once the upgrade is complete, it's the burning of the disk and the disk type that can cause problems. Most MK4's have dodgy DVD laser these days, so use a CD. Teh upgrade file is tiny so space is not a problem. There are some threads on burnign the CD. Essentially you need IMGBURN and to burn at the lowest speed supported by your burner (mine is 4x, although 1x is an option - here watch for ERRORS and WARNINGS during the burn process about the burn speed not being suportted). I think you need to inspect the setting s in IMGBURN for MODE2/FORM1, this is the case for MK3. a little light reading using the terms above and the search facility should clear up what to do.
