issue with my nav unit memory loss

my satnav unit doenst seem to keep its memory, if i set anything e.g. bluetooth phonebook, satnav adress's, colour of the menu, split or full screen setup. soon as i turn my car off and restart it all these things are gone and doenst seem to keep its memory, has anyone else had this issue or could advise me with what could be the problem, thanks...

Sounds like a corrupted memory problem to me, you could try an OS update and see if this fixeds the problem.

BTW the BT phonebook is held on the ULF not the mk4, if you are loosing this as well, then I think you may have a power problem in the boot of the car.

I have just updates the os the v32 but sthe problem is still the same. i think the power problem could be right as in my friends x5 when you unlock the car n open the boot or door the satnav and disck changer units have power without the key beeing in the ignation. but in mine they dont get power untill i put the ignition on. how could i fix the problem

Sounds like the permanent live feed to the boot is not wired corretly.

Has there been any work been done in there? ipod interface etc...

Also check fuse 7 and 41.

i dont know, it hasnt got ipod interface, iv only had the car for weeks and has been like it since i brought it,, i will check the fuses tonight. what are fuses 7 and 41 for?

7 and 41 are for the nav and radio in the boot, might be an idea to read the fuse layout from the manual, ,

Typical symptoms of corrosion on the power circuitry of the nav main board

Remove the nav and look for any signs of water stains. If you see some, suspect water damage. I have a friend in Germany that fixes this problem.
