Navteq releases 2005.1 CD update

Navteq has finally released the updated navigation CD's for North America - version 2005.1. Individual CD's can be ordered online for $129 each, plus shipping & tax, at http://www.navteq.com.

Interestingly, Navteq is no longer offering the complete 8-disc North American set directly to end-users. :tsk: Reportedly, though, complete sets can be bought by dealers. Not sure what the pricing will be for complete sets (they used to be $189 for a complete set from Navteq).

No word on when updates will be available on DVD.

Version # ?

UCrew,

thats great news that there is a new release for us 'old' CD based nav. owners. I thought they might 'forget' about us and just go for a DVD release.

Pricing.....hmmmm, those guys need to rethink their pricing structure !

I suspect they dropped selling the 8 disk bundle because too many people were buying the complete set, keeping the disk or two they wanted, and then selling the rest of the disks on eBay to recoup most if not all of their cost. This was no doubt cutting into Navteq's sales.

there's an idea mods. can u all open a thread containing the software that is only accessible to those that donate $XX towards the purchase of these Maps DVD's? maybe ask users to donate $5 or so. once u get enough donors, release the link of the thread to those that donated. any $$ over the cost keep and use for routine maintenance.

Hey I just went to the site and was able to pull up the 8 CD set for $199. It shows as available and allowed me to put it in the shopping cart and checkout (didn't buy it)

I would call them first to make sure this would apply to the 2005.1 set. You definately don't want to pay $199 and receive the 2003.2 set :tsk:
