Brian coded my mono to color several years ago with navcoder. It was easy. Also make sure you ask the parts guy to order that specific P/N. He wants to sell you a map instead of an OS disk. Maybe some of the Dutch guys can order it for you if the dealer parts guy won't do it. Here is a link to Crown BMW in the US where the MSRP is $8-9 and their price is $7.12 online. Just plug in the correct P/N to see it.

Can you describe how the red power LED is behaving during all this time.

The unit LED is working, sometimes constant sometimes flashing dependant what it is doing. I have a new OS CD which I have burnt so I am going to give that a bash at some point.... hopefully that should do it....

Hi all,
After some time away I have retried to code my MK4 nav from Mono to Colour. Here is the update. I burnt a perfect OS disc (no errors etc.). Navcoder was reading my MK4 unit. Then hit the code to colour button at the bottom on the nav screen, and inserted the OS disc when requested. Waited 20 mins. Power light went off :-S and the nav stopped responding. Disc is now in the nav (unable to retrieve) and although it makes noise like it is trying to do something nothing happens - i.e. no LED flashing or on at all. Not sure what has happened now but seems like the unit is tanked which is a shame after all the hassle I have been through trying to do it (interface, navcoder etc.). Anyone got any ideas whatsoever? Thanks Chris |
Jochen is on holiday for at least the next week, so ma not be around to help. Is navcoder able to read the nav? Any iBus messages from the nav?

Likely you have a weak or dead CD laser.
Eject the CD (disconnect and reconnect power, then press Eject repeatadly until disc comes out) Burn the OS to a DVD and try updating with DVD. |
