GPS signal lost

Hello,

I have a nav system in my mini cooper R53 it worked perfectly yesterday, but today it cannot find my position, so i have disconnected battery for 30 min, go to the secret GPS menu and it is written "RECERR" but when I go to GPS tracking sub-menu i can see all sattelite with ratio moving but SN are between 1.5 and 2.5.

Almanac variable is set to "no", do you think it's possible that the gps cable is a little unplugged or the antenna is shot ?

I will check for cable this weekend because on the mini it's under the passenger seat not very simple to check

So if you have an idea to help me i'am listening

Thank you.

Broken GPS antenna probably.

After you disconnect the battery, it is normal to have the “RECERR” message, Almanac “No,” and erratic S/N numbers. We needed to know the status from your service menu before you disconnected the battery. Let the car stay on for at least 15 minutes with a good view of the sky. Then, go back and check the status on the service menu.

The status before was SEARCH, the nav has restarted after a month and was ok for a few days but now it's again down and no value moving in the nav menu.

So i have bought a new aftermarket antenna with a frakra connector, but when i plug it, the nav say "ANT OPEN".

That is why i think the problem is the nav module in the mk4, i will try to replace it.

It does not work, the new antenna. Did you check the voltages for the inbuilt LNA?

Djfab3345 05-09-2011 11:29 AM

I have not tested the voltage, but if the antenna was faulty why the new will not work :/

Is the aftermarket antenna compatible with MK4? How are you sure?

Aftermarket antenna work with the mk4, my problem was the connector, when i plug it directly to the mk4 all was ok, so you can buy an antenna on ebay for 10$ if you want.
