What's the sequence ?

Greetings
I got a custom splash screen from one buddy, I bought a LEGAL, albeit a year old, BMW Navteq Map update from another person on the boards, and also had a friend burn me an update to V32 firmware.

What is the correct sequence to install everything in my 06 E53 Mark IV...?

Thanks
ed

50 reads and not one reply....?

Did I ask a bad/dumb/obvious question ?

The question you asked have already been replied many many times...
BTW
- to update firmware just open door, insert key and turn to have board monitor on;
insert cd into unit (do not close or touch anything in the meantime) and wait...it will take less than 5 minutes. After upgrade remove the cd (it will aut eject) I did it really many many times in order to test my stuff;
- to use DVD just put the dvd into the unit and it will work. If you want to implement additional function...study the threads
WHAT I WROTE IS VALID FOR MY X3 NAVSYSTEM BASED ON MKIV UNIT

If the update disc is not MODE2/FORM1 you will instantly brick your nav. You have been warned.

My question was not how, but the sequence..

Firmware first ? Maps Second ?

Or it doesn't matter ?

it doesn't matter because you must eject the map to load the firmware

so whether you view a map, then load firmware, then view the map again, or:
load firmware, then view the map
makes not one iota of difference

this is a silly question to me.

You MUST eject the map disc to UPDATE...so the sequence is there :wow:or put it in another way. You MUST insert the map disc if you want the nav working. So we come back to the beginning. Is that clear now? :thumbup:
