V32 OS

Hi all,

I have the hacked version of the OS which freezes at times and also the screen goes blank and then comes back. I was thinking of purchasing a genuine OS disk. The part number I have is 01 50 0 141 891 and according to the online parts tool it costs $9. Im based in the UK so called the dealer for a price. He advised its over £200! Am i missing something here?

BMW (UK) don't want this available as a customer sale, but they are required by law to offer it for sale so they charge £200, its ridicules.

Just download a mode2/form1 OEM v32 and burn it your self.

As for the rebooting issue, which version of OS are you running.

Thanks for the reponse. Im running SW 4-1/01 at the moment which i purchased from one of the sponsors on the forum. However, as mentioned it freezes and the screen goes blank at times. To be honest when i try and use the satnav i get the 'could not read CD/DVD' most of the time. Also, I need to leave cam alert turned of which then sets language to french. If i turn camera alert on i get the language in english but it does my head in!

You suffer from the TMC error (it's a buffer overrun error in the memory), I've made a fix for this and there is a download available, I can pm you details if you need them.

Sounds like you also have the warn laser problem too.

Indeed, this is a well documented caveat, the disc suplier should have made you aware of it.

Recode your mk4 to have UK, USA and Ger as the language sets and the problem goes away.

The alerts and on/off options are hacks and the default state is on, if you don't want the alerts then just put a new (non poison) version of he OS in.

Thanks for the reponses.

I never got the error 'cannot read CD/DVD' when i was using the original map DVD so can only assume the laser doesnt like non original DVDs.

Can you send me a PM with the details to fix the TMC problem and also how to recode the mk4 for UK, USA and German language sets please

Thanks in advance

Correct, the laser is tuned for OEM pressed dvd's; backup dvd's are burned, so the tolerances are ever so slightly different, on new and good lasers its not a problem, but when the laser goes out of true you get read problem.

You need navcoder and an i-bus interface mate, do a quick google search for navcoder and you will find it (Jochen (the navcoder creator) is a great bloke and posts on this web site).
