Desperately seeking help-Navigation issues after attempted V32 OS update
 

So I have a 2005 M3 with an MKIV Navigation unit. It had SW 4-1/42 and I attempted to upgrade it to V32 firmware, which I believe is: SW 4-1/00. Anyways, I followed the exact steps from this link:

I downloaded and burnt the .ISO file onto an HP CD-rom using Imgburn and attempted to update my firmware. My DVD unit screen went blank/black and never returned back to normal. I am sure the install went bad and now the radio, CD, and most functions work normal (i can play the radio and CD), its just that my screen is completely blank. I did a lot of research and I found the following link:

My situation is almost identical to this gentlemens, however, I tried his method wby burning the OS to a DVD and still no luck. I redid the steps exactly with the DVD and nothing happens at all. Any one have any suggestions?

What speed did you burn the OS cd at mate??

just jumped in to say hallo to all the good frineds of the forum....I am spending more time on bimmerforums these last days due to the need to "play" with diagnosis software. ;)

well...so far speaking about the hardware side I have USB VAG KKL interfaces that I modded to detect battery/ignition and the two BMW klines; I also have RS232 VAG KKL but did not test yet; in addition I also have a ELM327 (but seems useless for BMW but is a MUST for fiat/alfa/lancia);
speaking about software I am using:
- GT1/DIS v57; not bad but no coding programming functions;
- EDIABAS suite (trying to have the latest INPA to fully diagnosis my E83); excellent product family (NCS, WinFKP);
- Progman: excellent and quite easy and straight to use;
- ISIS/ISSS/ISTA-D: trying to get it they say it is a must but very very heavy software.

Me too, its a great piece of kit and cheap too :)

Ok, I have the bmw version, its Ok but nothing special.

I have this and v44 (I use the v44, because its teh last version that you can use to code too).
Ok, you will need to install this is another Dir if you want your GT1 to work as well, the GT1 and SSS require EDIABAS v3.0.1; anything else and the SSS/GT1 don't work.

Very good point Thanks for the tip. I will install the latest on another PC not to mess up and eventually use another DIR. The problem I am facing is that I (INPA) can not see the DME. I suppose it is accessible via CAN so I just bought another IF CAN capable or it could be a software limit.

Ah Ok, Yes, could be, what version are you using for the glue (v3.0.1 or something else).
Yeap, I ahve streamlined the process too, so I have full images ready maade and ready to go (just in case I need to swap laptops).

NCS is very scary, one wrong move and your modules are toast.... I have a few thing I want to enable (that GT1 and SSS can't), but so far not had the time (seat memory for passenger seat etc)...

Can't be done without a big spend mate, the passenger side motors are a different part number, without the position encoders.

You'd need a LHD driver seat harness with the extra wires and the motors, as well as the LHD memory switch.

You may also need an iBus connection to the passenger seat as the position is stored in the ZKE, and possibly GND a pin in the seat switch to ID it as the passenger side.

I have the LHD memory buttons/switch unit and have tried it (plugging it in) and the seat position adjusters worked ok, but not the memory stuff.

Hmmm, when running the inpa software there is an option under the seat menu that allows remote adjustment, I assumed that the switch module could use that for seat memory,

Ah, ok maybe scrub that idea then.
