MK4 does show complete date.
 

I recently upgraded to the mk4 and it shows the date as --.--.2011, it just won't display the numbers for month and day, and if I go into set them, it won't let me do that either. running v32 btw.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you set the time? There is a setting sequence for time and date. I have forgotten which must be done first time or date.
