MKIV uk unit
 

So new years here and my resolution is to get the nav done.
So will a UK mk4 work in a USA X5.
From what im reading I may have to use navcoder is that correct? I have the BMW scanner software will that work? I also have an in-progress easy dis/inpa setup.
Does the mk4 have to have its rgb video feed switched, Is the signal to the bordmonitor in PAL and we in USA use NTSC or that has nothing to do with the nav pc. Are the dvd-rom nav discs reigion coded meaning it will say sorry wrong region try a uk disc. It looks like mk4 drives from the UK are easier to get than USA drives.

Help please dont want to waste money. I want to do it right the first time.

Are you sure about this? It has been a number of years since I tried it, but I put a Europe High disc (left over from someone else's European Delivery) in my E46 / MK IV and entered an address in the UK. After a little while, it told me it couldn't compute a route from New York to London. :dunno:

However, if I used the "destination map input mode", I could scroll the map over to Europe and view roads, etc.

Of course, an out-of-region map isn't particularly useful.

OK, that is proably possible.

It may not say "wrong region", but it wont work (which has the same result).

The drive will accept the disc and as you say if you input a Uk address it will atampt to guide you (and fail).

But for the purpose of the question, no is a better answer as anything other than the correct region disc is a waste of time and money, so IMO a non starter.
