Arrival time MK4 doesn't work
2002 M5 -
I upgraded my MKII to MK4 and now the arrival time is not working. I only get a --:-- I have V32 and have tried down grading and upgrading... I went to the advance settings by using Menu-->Settings-->Menu(hold for 10sec) In here I see that my MK4 is from an X5 and I have seen posts that say you must code this to your car.. Anyone know how to do this? Any other tips are much appreciated. I miss that arrival time. |
first dumb question - is the date/time set in the on-board computer?
the nav drive does not need to be coded to the vehicle in order to work properly. |

Interesting that you say that it does not have to be coded... What do I do next? |

next step for me would be to find someone in your area that has an MKIV and try swapping units to see if the problem remains with your vehicle or if it follows over to the donor vehicle. If it follows then you know you have a bad MKIV unit.
I once had a MKIV that worked perfectly except that it woud not store addresses. Sometimes there are fluky problems that are specific to a given unit. |
This may be a coding thing that NavCoder can fix. It has been a while, but it might be worth an email to Jochen to inquire.

I have read that the NavCoder is the correct fix... Seems difficult tho.. Any way around that? or anyone have clean instructions for running NavCoder?

There is option for activation the arrival time in NavCoder.

NavCoder is totally easy and worthwhile. The only hard part is the I-Bus interface; however you can just buy a read-made Resler interface and be done with it. If you did a nav upgrade, the nominal NavCoder investment is totally worth it, especially if you might do more upgrades in the future.
