Help with languages for my MKIV navigation.

Hi,

I own a 2004 M3 with OEM MKIV navigation. I'm currently on V32 and I'd like to have the ability to change between British English and Portuguese. Is this possible? Are there language packs that I can load? And if so, how?

Thank you in advance.

P.S. Is there also a Polish language pack?

That doesn't really answer my question.

Navcoder will do it I expect.

The languages are selectable through vehicle coding. You can do this yourself with NavCoder, or you can take it to a dealer for the coding. These selections are built into the OS update disk, so you will need a V32 update disk on hand if you do the coding yourself with NavCoder. Unfortunately, the system does not have Portuguese, and there is no easy way to add languages. The MKIV navigation computer lets you load three of the following language choices during coding (that you can then select from the car's menu):
  • Dutch
  • English (American)
  • English (GB)
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Spanish

You can add languages, but like Brian says, it requires extra work and loosing one of the OEM languages.

I've added loads of non OEM languages to the mk3/mk4, Polish and Portuguese are available too.

Here you go mate, Polish and Portuguese language packs

https://rapidshare.com/files/1683175...uage_packs.rar

Use navtweak to add the txt files (navcoder 2.7) you will need to rename 2 of the loaded languages with the new ones and then also replace the same voice files with the new voice files (remember to rename them.

You may also need to make a new voices dir and change the language version number.

If need be use navcoder to swap the languages.

Thanks. I'm perfectly fine with losing OEM languages. I only care about British English, Portuguese, and Polish.

If I understand this correctly, I can simply replace and rename the files in the V32 iso. Is that right?

I remember when I was changing American to GB with female voice, all I had to do is make the usa_f.csf file be the gb_f.csf file in the following locations:
V_2/voices/0502
V_2/language/0103
V_2/language/0105

Now, when I go into those folders, I see files like:
D4F.TSF
E4F.TSF
F4M.TSF
GB4F.TSF
I4F.TSF
USA4F.TSF

Does that mean that I have to make, for example, the Portuguese language file into one of the ones above? - In other words, rename it to one of the ones above? - If so, that leads me to my next question. Which 3 of the many languages inside those folders does the MKIV interface recognize and allow me to choose?
