MKIV Widescreen Issue - stuck in 4:3 aspect
 

Hi Everyone I have been searching through the forums everywhere and can't find much if any information on this issue i'm having

My MKIV widescreen Nav in E46 330i (2005) is stuck in the 4:3 aspect ration rather than 16:9

I have tried setting it to widescreen (fullscnreen) using navcoder via the IBUS but hasn't helped (except for enabling TV in motion)


Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? it's driving me crazy and looks stupid

2005, E46, MK4, 16:9 monitor, TV tuner, paid version of Navcoder.

the version of nav firmware is unknown, the nav does not really specify 16:9 or 4:3, as the full/split screen refer to a different view of information on screen.

the TV tuner on the other hand, has a setting for 4:3 and 16:9 setting...

can you snap a pic of your screen and post it?

Hi its has the digital / analog TV, i heard the issue was to do with this somewhere but nothing conclusive

I think its version V32 software or V31, i should check

in the TV settings, SET, you can specify the 4:3 and 16:9 screens - are you able to actually specify that and does system take it?

The TV settings will not effect the Navigation Drive. I suggest you pull the power from both the board monitor and the navigation drive. Give them 5min of no power.
Then power the system up and see what happens. after this try a firmware update as this will reset the system back to defaults...

This happened to me when I upgraded my monitor from 4:3 to 16:9 and I didn't change the computer from MK3 to 4 yet. the MK3 was still booting in 4:3 mode, but after a power cycle, all was good.

also where did you get the digital TV unit from?

There is no option to set aspect ratio in SET, even in the hidden menu

I have tried disconnecting the battery for an hour, no luck next time i will try over night

The digial/analog tuner came with this model (2005)

i have digital/analogue (hybrid) tuner, got it on ebay off a seller in germany, about 6-8 years ago... no good in the US anymore, as we managed (again) to come up with our own digital standard... however, it is still good for a reverse camera and the AV inputs...

the SET in mine actually has an option for a 4:3 or 16:9... could it be that the monitor is not sending identifier over the ibus, that the monitor is a widescreen? i wonder, how that can be rectified...

I actually forgot this had AV inputs, I think a rear view camera is in order.

Anyway last night when i was driving it went back to normal again, everything looking fine again so i switched to TV and that is still stuck in 4:3, but now when i switch back to the other screens they are back in widescreen

so it must be the TV Tuner, I wonder if i have caused more problems by coding it (i think i put it in US mode for some reason) and coding the NAV to Euro..

still surprised no one else has seen this problem?

The TV being 'stuck' in 4:3 is one of two things:
1. change the setting in the TV menu. This is under 'DISPLY' I think...
2. you have a 4:3 TV Tuner in which case you cannot change this setting.
