How is the outpost?

I don't visit much and I was wondering how the site and the old group is doing?

I still have my 08 E61 with 75,000 miles on it. Was thinking about getting a new BMW but like my old ride better. Maybe the new 5 or MB wagon in 2017.

Very quiet.

Many of the old group have moved on. Very few posts in the lounge.

A different type of discussion on the E53 board now that purchase prices have dropped as a result of vehicle age and miles. Lots of off topic posted there as posters seem to like to keep it all on one board.

We are both driving a single E83 and wil likely keep it for awhile. Looked at F15 models and trailers but not keen to jump while our dollar is at $0.76, as that is quite a premium to pay.

Unfortunately, your e61 is a far better drivers car than the current 5 series offerings. I'd probably hold onto it for a while if I were you.

It's been a while since I posted anything here. We're still driving our e70 35d and e46 M3. I check in from time to time for repair questions and always look at the lounge. Most recently came here to see why our e70 seemed to be dripping water from behind the passenger side front wheel and quickly determined it was a cracked washer fluid tank....thanks to this site.

It's nice to see you guys are still around.

I agree about the current 5 without dynamic suspension it drives like a boat.
I just change the transmission oil and had the front struts replaced. The car drives like new and still looks good I plan to keep it for another year or two then probably get an MB wagon. Sad but I will need to leave BMW because they don't want import wagons.

I like the e61 a lot more than my x5 4.4 which always felt big. I average over 21mpg with the 5 wagon so it makes going to the gas station a lot more pleasant.
The updated 2017 Cayenne also look interesting.

Hi Bill,
The Forum is still very informative, if considerably evolved and 'different'...

Our '01 has ~104,000 and has its share of 'aches and pains', though I have no intent of replacing it.

Still a retired bum and enjoying life at our Mtn home and our SW FL winter house.
Hope you and your Fam are doing well.
GL, mD

mD you have the life; my family is good though I have been working very hard and hope to get some time off. I hope to close a fews big deals that should allow me to semi retire in a few years.

Have you been to a X5 reunion recently?

The site seems to have lost some of the activity after the name change but it is still nice.

Yep things have changed dramatically.

No talk about politics, upcoming model changes, and normal
conversation that made this site an interesting place to visit.
Like MD I still look around to keep track of what might be new.
It appears that there's more talk about what's wrong with vehicles
than the positive experiences one has. But like some others have said
many have purchased trade in's or bought from first or second owners
and are looking at trying to keep their vehicles running and that's to be
expected. I guess gone are the days when people came for the information
and stayed for the friendships…..

I still remember the old group and the friendship.

Glad to see some of us are still around.

Haven't posted much here lately as most of the topics get repetitive.

My '04 have approx. 106k on it now. It's becoming less of my DD and more of a "tourer" or a "hauler" these days as the coupe is getting more of the DD duty. The X5 is the longest I've ever owned, by far, longer than any other cars (the M Coupe is the only other car that I can see myself keeping longer than the X5). Part of me wants to see if it can make it to 200k, which at this rate, could be another 10-12 years

Just took it on a 1,500 mile mini-SouthWest trip. Enjoyed every moment of it, even in the 117*F oven of Phoenix

Maybe we can rekindle the political debate that we all had here during the previous two Presidential elections, once we all get into the upcoming 2016 Presidential election. For selfish reasons of wanting to postpone that polarizing debate, I hope that really does not occur until the summer of 2016, but that may be wishful thinking....
